About the Academy

Founded April 28, 2007, TIGON Academy began as an 800 sq foot fully matted studio which soon outgrew its space. In December of 2009, ground was broken to construct an addition to bring TIGON to a 3200 sq ft facility with over 2000 sq ft of mat space and plenty of seating for spectators.

Through our cage walls you can observe our traditional Korean bow in session and full contact training. It takes more than just training to become a martial artist, because conditioning is so important classes are held at times at our outdoor gym consisting of dip bars, chin up bars, tire flipping and much more and because of our access to the Albany Bike Trail, our diverse conditioning includes much cardio as well.

It's all about location in Watervliet and we are very fortunate to have the Schuler Flatts Cultural Park in our community as well. Although we love training in our Dojo, because each venue is different our training is tailored to each possible scenario.

TIGON Academy, also promotes community awareness through various public works projects such as clean up days, Make*A*Wish, the Wounded Warrior Project, and Empire State Warrior Challenge events.
