McEvilly Jr. had a dream of one day owning his own martial arts school. Ron’s interest in the martial arts began when he was in the military. Through the military’s Combat and Survival Tactics Training (CSTT), Master McEvilly began his training in self defense and mixed martial arts. In 2001 he earned his degree in Computer Information Systems (CIS), and is currently employed as a Computer Programmer for the state of NY. Through multiple seminars, private lessons and diverse training with various style instructors including Master Michael Harper (5th Degree TKD), Jerry Spiegel (Professional Mixed Martial Artist), Master Peter Bardatsos (6-time U.S. Team Member, Team Captain & Coach), Master Jim Cook (Former Owner of Cook’s Academy & Upstate NY Swat Team Member), Nolan Dutcher (Owner of LionKill BJJ/NAGA, ISCF & Superfight Champion), Master Scott Palangi (Palangi’s Martial Arts & Kickboxing), and Master Joe Hasan (Co-Owner of Pil Sung’s TKD & AAU Regional Chairman), Master McEvilly devised his own Mixed Martial Arts style of fighting, which is now referred to as TIGON style. Master McEvilly has won 7 of his last 8 major tournaments including a gold medal at the 2006 National U.S. Cup, which was held in Hartford, CT. His recent victory at the Adirondack AAU Championship over the defending AAU National Champion sealed any doubt that Master McEvilly is the real deal. Sept. 8, 2007, he scored a big MMA win over Central PA’s D-1 wrestling/grappling instructor - Matthew Freeborn with a TKO. Master McEvilly’s dream of owning a school came to fruition when TIGON Academy opened in Watervliet, NY. |
